CleanPeak Energy Acquires Leeton Solar Farm

Today CleanPeak Energy signed definitive documentation to acquire the fully operational Leeton and Fivebough Solar Farms together with the Boggabri solar & battery development site from Photon Energy. The two operating solar farms have a combined nameplate capacity of 14.5 MWdc while the Boggabri development site will support an 8 MWdc solar Farm and an 11 MWh energy storage system.

The Leeton and Fivebough solar farms are located adjacent to the town of Leeton in western NSW and have been in operation since 2022. Both solar farms are non-scheduled and feed into the Essential Energy distribution system. The two farms are located on 36 hectares of land and will generate more than 26 GWh of electricity annually.

The Boggabri development site is a shovel ready project with an approved DA and a connection offer from Essential Energy. It is located on 21 hectares of land outside the town of Boggabri.

The acquisition of the Leeton and Fivebough solar farms adds to CPE’s operating solar fleet and will deliver renewable energy and LGCs for customer contracts enabling CPE to continue to deliver 100% renewable solutions for its customers. The Boggabri asset will be developed in 2025 and satisfy customer contracts advancing our mission to reduce our customer’s reliance on fossil fuels, delivering lower cost and more sustainable energy. The acquisition will be funded via a combination of equity and debt financing.

Philip Graham, CEO of CleanPeak Energy said “The Leeton and Fivebough solar farms are great assets that will support the rapidly growing CleanPeak retail operation. The land available at the site is perfect for the development of a large-scale battery which will improve the reliability and consistency of output from the site. This transaction is another example of our company moving quickly to capitalise on high quality assets that fit well within our portfolio.
